Biography

Dr. Fangtian Zhong is an assistant professor at Montana State University since 2023. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from George Washington University in 2021 under the supervision of Prof. Xiuzhen Cheng. From 2021 to 2023, he worked as a postdoctoral scholar at Pennsylvania State University and the University of Notre Dame. His research focuses on software security, reverse engineering, program analysis, and the application of machine learning in cybersecurity. He has published two ESI 1% highly cited papers and received the Best Paper Award at the IEEE Cyber Awareness and Research Symposium 2024. Additionally, he has served as a TPC member and reviewer for several prestigious journals and conferences, including IEEE TC, IEEE TIFS, IEEE TDSC, IEEE INFOCOM, and ASE. Dr. Zhong enjoys developing statistically and mathematically elegant solutions to software security and software engineering challenges across various architectures, with a particular interest in analyzing native code without access to source code.
